Good New Year’s Resolutions for the Whole Family | Erik Halvorsen
January 1st can be viewed as a good time with the best intentions. However, very few of these New Year’s resolutions ever come to fruition, most losing their steam by the spring. Something that can help is to choose attainable goals that can inspire positive change, so why not do some as a family! Below are some things that you can do with your family as a New Year’s resolution .
Practice Gratitude
In these challenging times, it can be incredibly beneficial to remember to be thankful for what you do have. Keeping a gratitude journal and writing in it consistently can help ground you and make sure you don’t take things for granted. As a family, maybe you can go around the table at dinnertime to say what you’re thankful for that day. That way, you all achieve it as a family. If you would like to go above and beyond, keep a gratitude journal and encourage others to write in it.
Cook Together
Everyone says that in the new year, they’re going to eat better, but few rarely do. Something you can do is make sure to involve the whole family in the kitchen. This not only also works with accountability, but you can also get your kids more comfortable with kitchen appliances, which promotes independence. All it takes is one easier meal to cook a week, and you’re implementing a lifetime of benefits for your family.
Read Together
Sitting down with your family to read a book can be a precious moment. In the time of video games and television, there’s a real fight to get kids to want to read. However, instilling these ideas when they’re young, sitting down to read every night with them, can help them want to read more, building up positive associations for your children when they think of this pastime. Sitting down with them and picking up a chapter book you’re all interested in can also help you bond as a family.
These are just a few of the many New Year’s resolutions that you can accomplish together as a family to make sure you bond throughout 2022.
