The Most Expensive Desserts from Around the World
While I may consider myself a foodie, desserts have never been my favorites. Now don’t get me wrong, taking a bite out of an elegant dessert to finish off my evening at a restaurant can be very pleasing. My wife is the one who picks out the desserts, and I usually don’t have a say. More recently, I noticed the desserts on a menu to be pretty high in prices. This got me thinking about what some of the most expensive desserts from around the world are. Take a look at what I found.
Golden Opulence Sundae–$1,000
New York City’s Serendipity 3 restaurant serves this elegant dessert made using chocolate truffles, Grand Passion Caviar, vanilla beans from Tahiti. What I like the most is how it is topped with edible gold flakes and gilded sugar. I am a sucker for a good sundae, but do we need caviar with ice cream? Don’t get me wrong, I am down with sweet and savory mixed together, but I don’t want fish eggs in my ice cream.
The Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel Chocolate Pudding–$34,000
This British dessert was created to resemble a Faberge egg, one of the most prized collectibles in the art world. The ingredients include four different flavors of Belgian chocolate, edible gold, and champagne caviar. Oh, and I can’t forget the two-carat diamond that it comes with?
Strawberries Arnaud–$9.85 Million
Available in New Orleans at Arnaud’s Restaurant, this sweet dessert is widely recognized as the most expensive in the world. This is a berries and cream traditional dessert, so what makes it so expensive? There are some high-end liquors and fancy gold leaf thrown in for good measure, but it just may be the blue diamond engagement ring having 10.06 carats that explains the price of this dessert.
